The WONCA Special Interest Group on Emergency Medicine (EM SIG) is inviting applications for several key roles ahead of the upcoming biennial. These open calls are an opportunity for family doctors and young professionals to contribute to the advancement of emergency care within primary care through active participation in the EM SIG Executive.
Open Call: Young Doctors Representatives for EM SIG

The WONCA Emergency Medicine Special Interest Group (EM SIG) invites the Young Doctors Movement (YDM) Committees in each region to nominate two (2) representatives to join the EM SIG Executive as YDM Liaisons.
Duties of the Position
- Foster cooperation between the EM SIG and YDM Committee.
- Collaborate with the SIG on behalf of the YDM.
- Participate at the EM SIG Executive, with voice, vote, and responsibilities.
- Promote SIG opportunities among young doctors via the YDM Committee.
- Report regularly to the YDM Committee.
Eligibility Criteria
- Young doctor in training or within the first five years post-qualification.
- Active member of the nominating regional YDM.
- Experience and advocacy in the field.
- Willingness to fulfill duties and report to both the YDM Committee and EM SIG Executive.
Nomination Process
- Regional YDM Committees organise the call for nominations.
- Review and select suitable candidates.
- Submit CV and motivational letter to the Central YDM Committee.
- Elect representatives by November 2025 and notify the EM SIG Chair and Secretary.

Open Call: Community Manager for EM SIG

The EM SIG invites applications for the role of Community Manager to join the Executive. This role is essential for enhancing engagement across our global network of family doctors, educators, and researchers.
Responsibilities
- Manage EM SIG communications (mailing list, newsletters, website, social media).
- Serve as first point of contact for members and support community growth.
- Disseminate EM SIG updates and resources globally.
- Coordinate closely with the Executive and support webinars and events.
- Document and archive EM SIG activities.
Eligibility
- Current WONCA member.
- Experience in communications or community management.
- Interest in emergency/acute care in family medicine.
- Excellent written English (other languages a plus).
- Familiarity with digital tools.
- Organised, collaborative, and independent worker.
Term of Service
Two years, renewable.
Important Dates
- Application Deadline: September 5, 2025
- Selection: September 16, 2025 (at EM SIG Meeting in Lisbon)
- Start: At the WONCA Meeting in Lisbon

Open Call: Regional Representatives for EM SIG

The EM SIG seeks Regional Representatives to join the Executive from the following regions:
- Africa
- South Asia
- CIMF
- East Mediterranean
This is a key opportunity to advance emergency medicine within family medicine and to contribute to global efforts.
Responsibilities
- Act as a link between your region and EM SIG Executive.
- Promote emergency medicine in primary care regionally.
- Share updates and challenges with the global EM SIG network.
- Participate actively in Executive meetings and collaborative projects.
- Create and lead an EM SIG regional group.
Requirements
- WONCA member affiliated with the respective region.
- Family medicine specialist or family doctor.
- Interest or experience in emergency care within primary care.
- Commitment to EM SIG activities and global collaboration.
Term of Service
Two years, renewable.

- Selection Announcement: At the WONCA World Conference in Lisbon
- Start of Role: During the Lisbon Conference (September 2025)

Nomination Process
Each WONCA Region is responsible for a transparent and fair nomination process. Each region should nominate at least two (2) candidates. The EM SIG Executive will elect one representative per region.
