Dr Steve Mowle (UK)

Dr Steve Mowle has been a GP Partner in a large socially diverse practice in South London since 2000. The practice is highly inclusive, welcoming patients from all walks of life including disadvantaged patients who are homeless, refugees and those with major mental illness.

He has held various Royal College of General Practitioner (RCGP) roles over the past 14 years, including Honorary Treasurer of the RCGP (8 years), and Vice-Chair of Council under The Rt Honorable Baroness Gerada's leadership from 2010-2013. He led on the formation and development of the RCGP’s Junior International Committee. He played a key role in establishing the First 5 tier of RCGP membership to support new and recently qualified GPs. Dr Mowle has been actively involved in the college's international activities for over 14 years. He played a leading role in the College's program to develop Primary Care Educators from over 25 different Sub-Saharan African Countries.

He has extensive medical education experience in the UK and internationally, with particular expertise in Faculty Development and Delivery of Training.

He has been an active supporter of WONCA and was the Chair of the Host Organising Committee for the joint RCGP/WONCA Europe Conference in June 2021. He was re-elected for a second term as an Executive Member at Large and re-appointed as WONCA Treasurer in September 2025.

Dr Mowle was award the MBE in King Charles’ New Year’s Honours list in 2023 for services to the National Health Service, particularly during COVID.
