Candidates announced for 2025 Executive Committee Elections

WONCA is pleased to announce the candidates standing for election to the Executive Committee. These elections will shape the leadership of our global community for the years ahead.

Voting for Executive Committee positions will take place at the WONCA Council Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal, on 14 September 2025. The newly elected members will be formally introduced during the WONCA Awards Ceremony on Saturday, 20 September 2025 at 16:00.

Positions Being Elected at Council

President-Elect

One candidate will be elected.
The successful candidate will serve two years as President-Elect (2025–2027) and then two years as President from (2027–2029), with one year at Immediate Past-President (2029-2030).

Three candidates will be elected.
Members-at-Large will serve two years on the WONCA Executive Committee (2025–2027).

Young Doctors' Movement (YDM) Lead

One candidate will be elected.
The YDM Lead will serve two years on the WONCA Executive Committee (2025–2027).

Note: The YDM Lead election will take place separately at the YDM Council. This is not part of the main WONCA Council elections on 14 September 2025.

Candidate Profiles

To help Council members get to know the candidates for President and Member-at-Large, dedicated webpages will be published here after Monday, 30 June 2025. Each page will include a short video (up to 5 minutes) where the candidate introduces themselves and shares their vision for the role.

In addition, all candidates will speak live during Council on 14 September:
• Presidential candidates will give a 7-minute presentation
• Member-at-Large candidates will give a 5-minute presentation

Candidates will speak in the order listed above, which was decided by random draw.

WONCA Elections Policy

All candidates are expected to review and comply with the WONCA Elections Policy 2025, which outlines expectations for conduct during the campaign period.

The Election Oversight Committee consists of Past Presidents Rich Roberts, Amanda Howe, and Donald Li. They are supporting the process to ensure fairness and transparency.
