WONCA and the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organisation are pleased to announce the release of the General Practitioner/ Family Practitioner Reasons for Encounter/ Health Issues (GP/FP) subset and the map from the GP/FP subset to the International Classification of Primary Care (ICPC-2).

IIn this edition, they tell about two good practices, where PHC is paying more attention to work issues, coming from two newly industrialized countries: China and Thailand.

This month we make a special rural feature in WONCA News. In April, the WONCA world rural health conference was held in Dubrovnik and our very active WONCA Working Party on Rural Practice formally met. The WWPRP is chaired by Dr John Wynn-Jones of Wales and he and Dr Jo Scott-Jones of New Zealand have fueled such a wave of enthusiasm from working party members that we have decided to make a special rural feature in this month's WONCA News.

This year World Family Doctor day (FDD) has been celebrated by more people in more countries. We have been overwhelmed by the number of activities notified. This year we have chosen to feature celebrations from Nepal, as despite the very recent devastation of their country by two earthquakes, the general practitioners of Nepal made a celebration of World Family Doctor day and used it to pay tribute to the victims of the recent tragedy.
