Global Rural Health Summit at TUFH 2026

Global Rural Health Summit at TUFH 2026

Dear Rural WONCA Members,

I am writing to you today with great excitement to invite you to the upcoming Global Rural Health Summit, taking place as part of TUFH 2026. This summit represents a vital opportunity for us to come together as a global community to share practical solutions and strengthen health systems for our remote and rural populations.

To bridge this healthcare gap, the summit convenes a diverse, multidisciplinary network of family doctors, GPs, rural generalists, nurses, educators, researchers, and policymakers. Because clinical practice, education, and advocacy so often overlap in rural medicine, your multifaceted expertise is the backbone of this work. By sharing your insights into innovative service delivery and workforce development, we can build sustainable models of care tailored to the unique needs of underserved regions.

We also warmly welcome our GRACE (Global Rural health Action, Collaboration and Excellence) partners to join this collaborative effort. Together, we will unite global perspectives, advance rural education, and strengthen health equity to ensure no community is left behind.

Bridging the Distance: Local Realities, Global Equity

The Remote and Rural Health Summit 2026 brings together global partners committed to improving health in remote and rural communities. Hosted as part of TUFH 2026, the summit is led by Rural WONCA with support from the National Center for Rural Health Professions, Rural Coordination Centre of BC, and RDN - The Charity for Health Access, in collaboration with The Network: Towards Unity for Health (TUFH).

The Remote & Rural Health Summit at TUFH 2026 is designed as a dynamic three-phase journey that moves participants from insight to action. Grounded in the conference’s broader mission of fostering collaboration, learning, and community-driven solutions, the Summit begins by exploring the current realities and challenges facing rural and remote health systems, then transitions into interactive dialogue and knowledge exchange that elevates frontline voices and diverse perspectives, and culminates in a hands-on, solutions-oriented phase where participants co-create practical strategies and shared commitments. Together, these three phases create a cohesive experience that not only highlights key issues but also empowers participants to translate ideas into meaningful, community-driven impact.
