Montegut Global Scholars Program 2025
Applications Now Open for the Montegut Global Scholars Program 2025!
WONCA is pleased to announce that applications for the 2025 Montegut Global Scholars Program (MGSP) are now open! This program, generously funded by the American Board of Family Medicine Foundation (ABFM-F) since its inception in 2010, supports family doctors from underserved and underrepresented regions to attend key WONCA conferences, fostering global education, research, and collaboration in family medicine.
For 2025, the MGSP will support scholars to attend the WONCA World Conference, taking place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 17–21 September 2025. It will provide a $5,000 USD scholarship a doctor from each region to travel to Lisbon, Portugal and attend the conference. Applications are open to family physicians from the Africa, Asia Pacific, East Mediterranean, Europe, Iberoamericana, North America, and South Asia regions of WONCA.
About the Montegut Global Scholars Program
The MGSP was established to honor Dr. Alain Montegut, a former Board Member of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) from 2005–2010. Dr. Montegut has dedicated his career to advancing high-quality family medicine practice globally, especially in underserved and developing countries. The program reflects this vision by enabling family doctors worldwide to share knowledge, build professional networks, and drive improvements in primary care in their regions.
Our Commitment to Equity
At WONCA, we believe in ensuring equitable access to education and professional opportunities. The MGSP provides vital support for those who may not otherwise be able to attend international conferences due to financial barriers. By empowering family physicians with tools, connections, and insights, we strengthen healthcare systems and improve patient care globally.
How to Apply
Applications for the 2025 MGSP are open until 21 March 2025.
