Survey: Patient & Family Engagement

Quality and SafetyWONCA supports WHO in its efforts for improving Patient Safety. To that aim the Working Party on Quality and Safety will contribute to the WHO Global Patient Safety Plan 2021-2030 in their fourth strategic objective - patient and family engagement.

Patient and family engagement is one of the most effective ways to improve patient safety since they can have a comprehensive view of the entire health system. Nevertheless, for a variety of reasons—cultural, a lack of comprehension, organizational structure, or funding—their views are not often heard in many health systems. WHO strongly encourage integrating people and their families into patient safety strategies by building organizational and governance structures, enabling their views and experiences, and identifying patient advocates and champions. It is equally important to identify and incentivize those healthcare leaders willing to promote and integrate patient into their organizations and to create a culture of safety that encourages active listening to the voices of the patients.

The present Survey will help WONCA establish the current degree of patient and family engagement in patient safety in family medicine across the world as reported by their members as well as to establish a baseline for studies on working conditions. The survey has questions single response questions in relation to this issue and other questions about your practice and yourself.

The estimated completion time is five minutes.
