The WONCA Special Interest Group on Integrative Care invites you to join their upcoming webinar on
Saturday, 22nd February, at 14:00 UTC. This session will feature Dr. Ines Espiga Macedo from Portugal,
a Medical Doctor of Integrative Medicine specialising in Family Medicine, Medical Acupuncture, Meditation, and Qigong.
The topic of the webinar is The Benefits of Meditation. Interpretation in Spanish and Mandarin will be provided for this webinar.
Meditation is an ancient practice with its first written descriptions in India around 1500 BC, it is associated with different techniques and practices related to the mind body integration which focus on concentration and mind calming and enhance overall well being.
The development of research on the neuroanatomical and neurophysiological basis of meditation started in 1960’s and there has been growing evidence of the health benefits of regular practice of meditation.
In this webinar we will be developing the subject covering from the its origins, the different types of meditation techniques and its known mechanisms of action in our body, as well as the scientific evidence available.

About Dr. Ines Espiga Macedo
Dr. Inês Espiga Macedo is a family medicine doctor, acupuncturist and lifestyle medicine board certified also certified as meditation and qigong teacher.
Inês is a lover of life, nature and people. She has been a meditator since 2010 and in 2021 it became clear from her daily job, that becoming a meditation teacher was the next step in the career.
Her work is based on a quote from Letamendi which was the maxim for her Graduate School (ICBAS) patron Abel Salazar: "The one who only knows about Medicine, does not even know about Medicine."
