The WONCA Special Interest Group on Conflict & Catastrophe Medicine (WONCA SIG C&CM ) provides a forum through which WONCA can lend its support to improving the quality of care of peoples of the world when they face some of life’s greatest challenges. General membership is open to all GP/FMDs. A workshop will be held during the WONCA Europe Conference in Istanbul (22-25 October 2015).

As recently as January 2015, WONCA Executive approved the formation of a new WONCA Special Interest Group on Conflict & Catastrophe Medicine. Convenor, Rich Withnall, has shared this message about the Nepal disaster and invited interested family doctors to join the new group.

The WONCA Special Interest Group on Family Violence launches an invitation to WONCA members, all colleges and academies to join its reflection on effective implementation on how to deal with family violence in primary health care.

A new WONCA Special Interest Group on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) was approved by the WONCA Executive in July 2013 and serves as a focus for the development of NCDs issues for Wonca worldwide.

The WONCA Working Party on Women and Family Medicine has identified family violence as a major health issue facing women doctors and their patients WONCA’s stance against family violence has been further strengthened by the Vasco da Gama Young Doctors group work and the formation of the WONCA Special Interest Group on Family Violence in 2014.

A workshop titled ‘How to Set Up and Manage Point-of-Care Testing in Your Family Practice’ was presented by Prof Mark Shephard and Lara Motta on behalf of the WONCA Special Interest Group on Global Point-of-Care Testing at the recent WONCA Asia Pacific Regional Conference in Kuching, Malaysia.
