Updating the WONCA eHealth Party Group Lexicon

Updating the WONCA eHealth Party Group Lexicon

Your Input Matters

The WONCA eHealth Party Group Lexicon has long been an essential resource in our efforts to standardize terminology and promote a shared understanding of key concepts in family medicine and eHealth. As digital health continues to evolve, so too must the Lexicon. To ensure it remains a relevant and robust resource, we are beginning the process of updating its content—and we need your help.

Why Update the Lexicon?

The current Lexicon reflects a wealth of knowledge, covering concepts like artificial intelligence, telemedicine, electronic health records, and more. However, as the field of eHealth advances rapidly, new terms and updated definitions are crucial to maintaining its utility for family doctors, researchers, and health professionals globally.

Standardized terminology is essential to ensure we are all speaking the same language in the field of digital health. For instance, terms like “Digital health” and “e-Health” are often used interchangeably, yet they refer to distinct concepts. Clear and precise definitions help prevent misunderstandings and foster better collaboration across regions and disciplines.

Additionally, there are instances where multiple definitions exist for the same term. Consolidating these into a single, accurate definition is a priority for this update. Your input will be invaluable in identifying overlapping entries and ensuring the final Lexicon reflects a unified and comprehensive resource for our community.

How You Can Contribute

We are inviting you to participate in this process. Here’s how:

  1. Review the Current Lexicon: Access the latest version of the Lexicon here to identify areas for improvement.
  2. Provide Feedback: Share your insights using a short Google Form available here. In the form, you’ll find three key questions:
    • Are there definitions that should be added?
    • Are there definitions that should be updated?
    • Are there definitions that should be omitted?

Additionally, we’d like to know your country and current role to better understand the diverse perspectives of our contributors.

  3. Additional Suggestions: If you have more extensive feedback or specific expertise, feel free to contact Karen Kinder, our Executive Board member leading this initiative, directly at mail@kkinder.de

What’s Next?

Your contributions will help guide the revision process, ensuring the Lexicon reflects the latest developments in eHealth. Together, we can create a comprehensive, globally relevant resource that supports the work of family doctors and enhances the practice of family medicine worldwide.

Thank you in advance for your input and support. Let’s shape the future of eHealth terminology together!
